Thanks to twitter and our friends at styleblog.ca  we now have confirmed that Top Shop now offers shipping to Canadian customers. It seems like it was only last week that I was coveting TS outfits only to be dissapointed from an email response explaining that Top Shop was still in the process of making this dream a reality.  Well, looks like our dreams have come true!

And if you aren’t yet convinced…..

Don’t forget, Top Shop is home to an exclusive line by Kate Moss. Get it while you can!

Black and white is here for spring 2010 and brings us girly suits, flowy dresses and dutch inspired shoes. Not only is black and white easy to wear and accessorize, the pieces make it easier to transition your wardrobe from season to season.

Check out Chanel’s take on Black and White for Spring 2010:

I love the fantasies that Karl Lagerfield evokes with his collections and this Spring 2010 is no exception. For those of us who don’t have the platinum card to afford his pieces, you can find great black and white items at white house black market (they ship to Canada!)

Here’s some of my favourite alternatives to the Chanel dresses from WHBM:

One thing I love about black and white is you can make it your own with colourful accessories or go for a classic look with layered pearls and chains in muted colours. If your going out at night try a pair of brightly coloured heels to really make a splash!

I know I’m not the only one who wants to blow off some steam on a Sunday and enjoy a stress-free day (I bet your Mom is thinking the same thing, and if you are a Mom you know what I mean!).

May I suggest a favorite stress reliever: a mini-online shopping spree and a tall glass of something cheery to lift your spirits. This can all be accomplished stress and guilt free when you know where to shop and how to shop (with a little help from yours truly) without breaking the bank.

What could make this time better than a juicy alcohol free cocktail to satisfy your tastebuds while you browse the open stores (they never close!) and find amazing deals. And this can all be done without breaking a sweat.

I recommend  my most favourite alcohol-free drink that was passed on to me by a bartender in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I could not get  enough of them and vowed to make share their yumminess with friends when I returned home. So now, I’m passing it off to you.

All you need is:

  • Orange Juice – 1/4 glass
  • Pinneaple Juice – 1/4 glass
  • OR a citrus juice blend will do just fine
  • Grenadine – about half a teaspoon or to taste
  • Sprite or Gingerale (I prefer Gingerale) – 1/2 glass
  • Garnish to make yourself feel special

If you really want to impress yourself what I do is place the juice in first, then the gingerale and then the shot of grenadine on top. What this does is allow the grenadine to sink to the bottom and the leave the orange and red colours separated.

So sit back, relax on this Mother’s Day with a refreshing mocktail and surf the web for great deals. I guarantee you’ll find them and have a stress free day!

Martin & Osa, the luxury brand brought to us by the creators of American Eagle Outfitters has announced they will be leaving us. Only a few years into their entry to the competitive upperclass market, joining the likes of Banana Republic and Club Monaco, Martin & Osa is waving goodbye to their loyal customers.

Bringing us clothes that were effortlessly chic the brand will be missed by the stylish working girl. The brand never made it up North, but they did offer shipping to Canadians at a minimal charge. I visited two locations during the pairs’ reign, the Mall of America store in Minneapolis and the outdoor mall location in Las Vegas. I enjoyed my visits to both.

Until Martin & Osa bid us adieu they will be selling off their last line in stores and online at an additional 30% off. So get it while you can, and maybe you’ll grab a steal of a deal and also a piece of style history. When someone asks where you got your cute top you can say you snagged a few pieces of the last line ever produced of the brand, so to them better luck next time.

The official sail date of the M & S ship is yet to be announced but I imagine it won’t be too long now. The company often sells of merchandise to one-off retailers such as Winners, and no doubt they’ll find some arrangements in the US to re-coup some costs of production, rather than selling off the clothes at basement prices.

If your interested, take a peek and maybe you’ll be holding a piece never to be replicated again (unless by a copy-cat designer). Prices are reasonable and they offer both mens and womens clothing, including some fabulous shoes.

It’s time for sharing my latest shopping treasure. Shop now or forever stare at your lonely closet.

I love featuring shoes because no matter what happens, you can always cheer yourself up with a great pair of dressy heels that may be over-doing it a tad, but who really cares if it puts a smile on our face?

I recently spotted this picture of Amanda Seyfried, dubbed Hollywood’s it girl of the moment, sporting a popular trend these days: the strappy ankle sandal. This shoe is so versitile it can be worn from season to season, either giving a dose of attitude to your girly summer dress or spicing up your regular work uniform.

Here’s a well made pair on sale at Brown’s Shoes, their own brand B2 and are available in sizes 5-9, 11 last I checked. They’re on sale for $69.98 from $148.00.

I have shopped Browns online many times and can assure you that they do their best to make it a very pleasurable experience (thats what shoe shopping should be right?!) Their sizing is true to any other well made shoe brand so don’t think you’ll have to order a size up or down from your usual size. However, if your looking to play it safe you could probably get away with a half size too large since the straps will hold your feet in safely!

Get them while you can! And let me know how the shopping goes as always,

Ever wonder why A-list celebrities have access to designer clothes perfectly tailored to fit their every curve and styled to bring out their best assets (and usually at no cost)?  Didn’t think so.

Everyone knows that if you’re a well known celebrity about to make waves at a well publicized event,  thats what fame gets you. A nice job perk if you ask me. If I had tried to negotiate for a “personal stylist, designer clothes and a tailor” when my contract was up for discussion I probably would have been shown the “custom fitted orthopedics” section (filed under podiatry) of the benefit booklet…and that would have been end of discussion. A perfectly styled wardrobe isn’t exactly perceived as a tangible benefit to company productivity… even though I’d like to argue that it is.

Once again I’ve found a way to supplement this lavish benefit for something more accessible yet still quite indulgent. A new wave of customizable clothing has reached the market in the past decade due to an increase in demand for products that reflect our own sense of style and uniqueness. Retail giants all across the board from Apple electronics to Ikea home furnishings to Nike runners have caught on to this trend and offer numerous customizable options online. The rich and famous are  no longer the only ones who can demand a red plaid high-top sneaker with the name of their alter ego embellished on the side a la ‘Miley Cyrus (though are we really taking any style inspiration from her?).

The point is: We can join the ranks of the rich and famous and have personally tailored clothing designed by person who knows your sense of style best: YOU.
Recently I discovered some fabulous “designed by you” sites:

Shoes of Prey: You choose the heel, toe, fabric, colour & embellishments. Expert craftsmen then make your shoes to measure, swaddle them in a soft dust bag and crisp new box, and ship them to your

waiting feet. They guarantee you’ll love your shoes or you’ll get your money back.

Coco Myles: An impressive collection of customizable dresses, including celebrity-inspired fashions from sizes 0-32 in every style.

Zazzle: Allows you to create the highest quality footwear with your photos, designs, text and more, ensuring a pair of shoes unique as you. Choose from 7 different Keds shoe styles for men, women and kids.
MakeYourOwnJeans.com: There’s a wide choice of styles, whether you prefer a classic fit, a slimmer boot cut  or anything in-between. They also offer a wide variety of fabrics: Heavy-weight, Medium-weight or the popular new Cross-hatch Denim, corduroys and twills; all in a choice of colours.
Ravis Taylor.com: Offering bespoke custom, made to measure, customized off the rack and favourite clothing replication services. Although not an extremely attractive site, if your looking for professional services for designing your custom workwear item this may be your best bet, especially if you have a hard time finding dress clothes that fit.
What are you waiting for? Unleash your inner designer and let the creativity flow because nothing compares with the feeling of owning a custom designed, one of a kind piece.
PS: All sites ship to Canada as always

One thing I love about fashion is that it can be sinfully sweet without breaking the bank… it just takes a little effort and savvy intuition. If your like me you’ve noticed that the CW has stepped up their style cred this season with shows like Gossip Girl, Melrose Place and 90210.

More blogs and websites have been devoted to Gossip Girl style alone than I can count on my self-manicured fingers.

    These are my favourites:

  •  SeenON! boasts clothes straight from the set and is exclusive to members only. Click the link above for an invitation to join the guest list for upcoming private sales.
  • GossipGirlFashion.net is a less extensive website but offers hair and makeup styling tips to complement exact matches to outfits worn on the show.
  • ShopGossipGirl.com has an impressive collection (100+ pages) of true designer matches of outfits worn on the show as well as similar matches that the rest of us can afford. Check out this belted dress that is similar to the one worn by Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen). Armani Exchange belted bubble dress

  • Finally, the all encompassing site: The CW Online Store offers clothing and accessories from all three previously mentioned shows as well as the Vampire Diaries (although I’m less excited about the style on this show). In addition, the website offers a product finder which allows you to email the CW and request information about an item you fell in love with and can’t find on their site.

PS: They also have an extensive sale section on their site, check out this cute snake bangle that was worn by Adrianna in an episode of 90210.

So, another day another savvy style find and I didn’t even break a sweat. It definitely is a good feeling knowing you

can look just as stylish as those girls on TV (who have their own stylist don’t forget!) without a major network contract and paycheck to match.

Stay style healthy,

~Chelsea

Red velvet curtains held back by thickly woven rope, dim lighting and the scent of old money in the air. A man dressed in a sharply ironed tux stands at the entrance ushering you in with a controlled yet friendly gesture. Your heart drops as you realize that short of finding a winning lottery ticket stuck to the bottom of your black patent heel there’s no way you’ll ever gain access to the ostentatious room just beyond the smiling man and the heavy velvet curtains.

This is what I imagine when I hear the words private, exclusive, upscale members-only club. Lucky for you and me the internet has torn down the curtain that kept upscale designer brands held privately for the fabulously wealthy from the rest of us. Not that we could afford them if we ever got our hands on them, but we’d at least like to lust after them through the glass window.

My fellow shoppers, I’m proud to tell you about a recent discovery that will change your style quotient significantly. Access to exclusive members-only shopping, similar to those designer sample sales that make you wish you owned an apartment in Manhattan…only you don’t have to fork over a damage deposit and more money than the cost of a Louis Vuitton bag to gain access. Nope, all you need is a name and an email address.

How does it work? Members only shopping clubs ask for your info and place you on a waiting list to gain exclusive access to 48 hour sales up to 95% off guaranteed genuine designer clothing, accessories and home decor for men, women and children (assortment varies by site). The best part, oh yes it gets even better, is that as a stylish Canadian, I’ve scouted out the members only shopping clubs that ship to Canada. I can’t even contain my excitement over some of the items I’ve seen on these sites so far from brands like 7 for All Mankind, Buffalo, Kensie, Gentle Fawn, William Rast, Kenneth Cole…and the list goes on.

Membership access varies depending on availability, I gained access to all three of the following clubs after 24 hours. Use these personal invitations to get your key to a stylish world beyond your imagination:

Billion Dollar Babes: A cutting-edge fashion club that’s been around since 2001. They serve up top designers on a silver platter to a lucky few – at ridiculously   discounted prices.

Beyond the Rack: Private shopping club for women and men who want designer brand apparel and accessories at prices up to 70% off retail. Each event starts at a specific time and typically lasts only 48 hours. After each event ends the merchandise is no longer available. Members are notified by email in advance of each upcoming event according to their preferences.

HauteLook: Each day, HauteLook partners with premium fashion and lifestyle brands to create private, upscale sale events at savings of up to 75% off retail prices. In the last two years, over 600 high profile brands have chosen HauteLook to host more than 1,200 private sale events for women, men, kids, home, and beauty.

So go ahead, jump right in and soon you’ll be unlocking the door to your “virtual shopaholic heaven.”
